Posted by Bengt Köhler Sandberg 2012-09-29 This lens comes from a time when two parts of Carl Zeiss was arguing over name rights and there for lenses was just branded Jena or Aus Jena. Specs: Lens: 50mm Aperture: f/2.8 to f/22 6 bladed aperure Focus: Infinit to 0.5m (1.7ft) Mount: M42 Covers: Standard 35mm film size (24×36 mm negative) Image quality Wide open have nice and sharp center but quite noticeable corner softness which is visible to about f/8. Renders very good at all apertures. Analogue B&W

Build qualityf/2.8 - f/4 - f/5.6 - f/8 - f/11 - f/16 - f/22 Bokeh Not the best and can look quite bad in some occasions. Very good and solid. Conclusion This is more or less the same lens as the Carl Zeiss Jena DDR Tessar 50mm f/2.8 And the image quality is very similar but feel this to have a little better corner softness but a bit worse bokeh.
