Vivitar 28-70mm
f/3.4-4.8 MC Macro Reviews
Posted by Bengt Köhler Sandberg 2014-12-23 A lens that could be sold with the Vivitar v3800N and these are still being made if I'm not mistaking. That SLR is made by Cosina and I would guess that this lens is also that. Specs:
Image quality Analogue
B&W film
Bokeh Bit of a mixed bag. I is mostly made of metal with an exception of the aperture ring with is plastic. However my copy seems to have been somewhat sloppily constructed. One part of it have not been properly painted which doesn't really matter that much. But a bigger problem is that the focus ring has a little lag and could be pulled a little back and forth which affects the focus. Would not expect this lag to be a very common problem but build quality don't seems too great. It is however a cheap lens still being made so not the best build quality is somewhat expected. Conclusion Image quality wide open is quite sharp and is well corrected for a flat focal plane, so little corner softness at infinity. Stop it down a little and it goes from good to great and is surprisingly sharp. Bokeh looks okay, nothing too impressive but better than many similar lenses. Overall a nice lens which covers most use and can give some very nice quality images. Thumbs up: Image quality Sharpness Good closest focus Value for the money Thumbs down: Build quality Want to help
